Creative Director

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This is a part-time position (20 hours a week)

The Creative Director leads and trains a team of growing and talented artists (digital, print, video, installation) to produce, edit, and promote Awaken Church branding, events, advertising, promotional videos, teaching series art (print, digital, installation, stage design), etc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • > Receiving creative insight from the Pastoral Staff about the direction and tone of the teaching series as well as the branding of different ministries, supporting that insight to influence creative teams
  • > Leading creative meetings and leaving with a clear understanding of what needs to get done
  • > Overseeing development and skills of the creative and graphic design teams through discipling, training, coaching, and mentoring
  • > Managing multiple projects from start to finish including process, quality, and productivity of all facets of the creative process in a timely manner
  • > Prioritizing project needs and working with project managers to schedule and resource the team
  • > Multi-tasking and meeting concurrent, rigorous deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • > Coordinating with global staff such as Communications Director, Graphic Designers, Teaching Pastors, Events Coordinator, and/or Production Team Lead for events and weekend service execution and continuity
  • > Overseeing quality control of all videos, slides, installation, and print that goes out from Awaken or is shown in a service
  • > Designing, developing concepts and processes, obtaining materials, and overseeing installation of stage sets
  • > Staying current on industry trends; gathering and sharing creative trends to team members for inspiration
  • > Seeking other creatives and encouraging involvement with creative projects and teams

QUALIFICATIONS

  • > Character counts. The most important thing in leadership is personal integrity.
  • > Be spiritually strong. In order for leaders to withstand the temptations and trials of life, there must be a daily commitment to prayer, personal Bible reading, attending or leading a group.
  • > Always start with “yes.” Organizations move ahead most freely when people have a positive attitude and extend, as much as possible, a “yes” posture to requests and new strategic ideas for ministry that line up within our vision.
  • > Be nice. People usually want to follow humble, gracious, and encouraging leaders. Be that kind of leader.
  • > A commitment to excellence. While God uses us even in our weakness, the Gospel demands we give our best/seek excellence in every area of our ministry.
  • > Punctual. Be on time and ready to work during scheduled hours. If needed to stay late or show up early because a project requires it, please do so with a cheerful attitude.
  • > Well-versed in technology and current creative tools. Understand many different programs like Pro-Presenter, Adobe products, Photoshop, Illustrator, and any other software needed to do the job the best way you can.
  • > Strong where it counts. Strong creative, organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • > Solution maker. Possess strong conceptual skills, a high level sense of design, and be a broad thinker who is able to offer a variety of design solutions.
  • > Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Big egos need not apply. Be willing and able to work closely with other people, creatives, and team members, training, mentoring, and helping them grow.
  • > Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (or a degree comparable) preferred.
